Applied collaborative research ultimately gives VIPER an unmatched competitive advantage, enabling us to define the future of vehicle testing.  VIPER is unique in the performance engineering and motorsports industries in the capacity to advance the testing state-of-the-art through fundamental research.  With its university partners, Virginia Tech and Old Dominion University, VIPER can leverage the expertise and resources of two major research universities to achieve advancements.  However, more than being just an extension of these universities because VIPER is also an active service organization, our research programs tend to be extremely results driven as we are very focused on developing technologies to a state in which they can readily be adapted for usage by our customers.

VIPER is actively looking to partner with organizations that have a need to develop new technologies in the vehicle testing and simulation arenas.  We are actively engaged in the following types of research:

  • Advanced control systems design and implementation
  • Vehicle and systems simulation including hardware and driver in the loop simulation.
  • Alternative fuels development
